I would highly recomend the Hotel Santika for first timers looking for easy access to every thing you need to see with the much needed quiet retreat at the end of a day. If you want nightclubs, double 6 is five minutes walk away on the beach but you dont hear any sound in your rooms of a night.Plenty of taxis nearby or best of all hire a driver from the hotel for day trips.
This hotel is in an exellent location near the end of a quiet street, on the beach with many funky juice bars along the pavement.Its a short walk to many cool cafes and clubs and of course the shops,but not as hectic as kuta.The staff are all wonderful,most speak reasonable english and are always well presented and very friendly.
The pool is large and plenty of deck chairs and a big shady tree.The food is good and a little live music at night makes it a good place to stay in and dine.The rooms are okay,the only complaint is against the tilers who created large puddles on the bathroom floor instead of draining it properly and a misplaced towel rack above the shower.
